Lesson Schedule Policy

The school year is comprised of 36 weeks of piano/theory lessons, offered from September 9, 2019 - June 12, 2020. A full term consists of one lesson per week for a specified number of weeks. The terms run as follows: September 9 - December 20, 2019 (Fall), January 6 - March 20, 2020 (Winter), and March 30 - June 12, 2020 (Spring). An optional Summer Term is tentatively scheduled for July 6 - August 6, 2020. There will be no lessons on the following statutory holidays: October 14 (Thanksgiving), February 17 (Family Day), and May 18 (Victoria Day). Note that they are not included in the term fees.

Theory and Adult Beginner group classes will be offered when there is two (2) to six (6) students interested in a class. The lesson schedule will be determined once a class has been put together.

Missed Lessons Policy

Lesson cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time or Studio Workshop in order to be eligible for a lesson make-up. Notification may be made via the Student Portal, phone, text, or email.

No shows or failure to notify the Studio within 24 hours is a forfeited lesson and is ineligible for a lesson make-up. Every effort will be made to reschedule student absences due to family emergencies, illness, and extreme weather conditions.

No lesson make-ups will be given for missed theory or adult beginner group classes.

Lessons missed by the teacher will be rescheduled as a private lesson or group class.

Tuition Policy

Tuition fees for private piano and/or theory lessons are equalized and pre-paid over 10 months or up to three (3) terms. Theory class tuition is equalized and pre-paid over eight (8) months or two (2) terms. Adult group class tuition is equalized and pre-paid over one (1) or two (2) term payments.

Post-dated cheques are due August 1 or prior to the first lesson for students starting once the school year has begun. For students paying via e-Transfer, a post-dated cheque or an e-Transfer payment for September’s tuition is due August 1.

e-Transfer tuition payments received after the 10th day of the month are subject to a $25 Late Fee. Bank charges will apply on NSF cheques or e-Transfers. Original payment & bank fees must be settled within three (3) business days. The first eight (8) weeks of classes and the last month are non-refundable.

Termination Policy

One month’s written notice is required to terminate lessons prior to the end of the contracted term or one month’s tuition in lieu of notice. If you discontinue lessons on or after May 1, the Studio will retain the remainder of the tuition as an Early Cancellation Fee.

The Studio reserves the right to deny an application or terminate a student’s registration due to lack of student progress as a result of poor practice habits and/or attitude, abusive behaviour, or if the teacher feels the student is better suited to another teacher, instrument or activity. Unused tuition cheques will be returned or destroyed.
