Studio Policies |
|||||||||||
In order to make your time as a student or parent and my time as your teacher the most productive, these Studio Policies & Procedures have been established to avoid any unnecessary problems or miscommunication.
Bi-weekly Lessons: Bi-weekly
lessons are available only to “recreational-play” adult or
high school students.
Lesson Conduct: Regular and punctual attendance is expected. Students should come prepared for lessons. Students and parents should refer to the assignment book regularly. Please wash your hands prior to lessons and wait quietly in the waiting area until your lesson time. Please refrain from bringing friends to lessons. Extremely early arrivals and/or late departures are to be avoided as they disrupt other lessons.
Lessons Eligible for Make-Up Lessons:
Every effort will be made to re-schedule student absences due to family
emergencies, illness and extreme weather conditions. These absences, as
well as teacher absences, will be rescheduled to a Designated Teacher
Make-Up Day or a spare.
Missed Lessons: One (1) student absence per term will be eligible for a make-up lesson (minimum 24 hours' notice required via email or phone). Contact the studio prior to the last week of lessons to schedule a make-up lesson. Tardiness, no-shows, late notice will not be made-up. Students may arrange a Lesson Swap with another student to avoid missing a lesson. See FAQ's for details. Parental
Involvement: Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons as an observer
or to wait in the waiting area. For young beginners (4 – 6 years
old), one parent should attend lessons to better assist with at-home practice.
A sibling can stay in the waiting area so long as s/he is accompanied
by a parent and is not disruptive. Disruptive family members will be asked
to wait outside.
Registration Fee: The annual Registration Fee is non-refundable and is used to secure your lesson slot. Studio Dismissal: The Studio reserves the right to deny an application or terminate a student's registration at any time due to lack of student progress as a result of poor practice habits and/or attitude, or if the teacher feels the student is better suited to another teacher, instrument or activity. Summer Lessons/Tune Ups: Summer lessons are optional. The summer term runs for up to five weeks, beginning the first week of July (tentative). Summer lessons may be rescheduled to a mutually agreeable time when at least 24 hours’ notice has been given. Tuition for summer lessons must be paid in full by June 30 (post-dated cheque for July 1). Termination:
One month's written notice is required if withdrawing prior to
June. Students may take lessons up to the final date of termination.
Tuition: Tuition will not be adjusted, discounted or refunded for any reason. The completed Registration Form and Registration Fee dated for the date of registration are required to hold a lesson slot. Tuition cheques are due by July 1, 2011. Failure to do so will result in the lesson time being released. Tuition cheques for registrations received after July 1st are due at the time of registration. Please make cheques out to “Musespeak”. NSF cheques are subject to bank fees. Your canceled cheque will serve as your receipt. NOTE TO MUSIC TEACHERS: Colleagues, you may use these policies as a guide when crafting your own studio policies. I referred to various studio policies when developing my own. |
